What Now? What can you Do?
Several judgments, cases, and UN reports make clear what international law requires: Abu Zubaydah must be immediately released and provided with support to live a life with dignity after Guantánamo. The prison at Guantánamo, a dangerous symbol, should be closed. Many states share responsibility to make this happen.
This matters for Abu Zubaydah, and it matters for the rule of law, which concerns us all.
What can you do?
- Urge your government and politicians to help #FreeAbuZubaydah. The US should be urged to end this notorious situation that serves no legitimate US interest. Other governments should be urged to publicly offer him a home, and engage to facilitate his release and relocation.
- Support, financially or otherwise, efforts to take his art to others and to pursue justice on his behalf.
- Write a message of support for Abu Zubaydah; while excessive classification means we cannot guarantee your messages will be allowed in, we will do our best to ensure that he gets them one day.
- Help exhibit his work (if you can host or support an exhibition, please get in touch).
